Apple's Influence of the Public Sector
On the website of the Apple Store (www.apple.com) a section is listed as “Apple Store for Government” in which a variety of programs providing special offers on Apple products for both State and Local Government employees. In the past, Apple has worked with many government organizations to provid solutions in areas such as multimedia and collaboration. Furthermore when purchasing an apple product you must agree to a legal agreement discussing terms and conditions of that product for everyone else.
The U.S. Government has also embraced the iPad 2 because of its ability to “allow the government to have happier, more productive employees”. Blackberry has been most popular with the U.S. Government in past years because of its secure e-mail platform, but its recent and rather late launch of the RIM Playbook received less than mediocre reviews. Now even Barack Obama, the President of the Unites States of America himself uses an iPad 2.
